We have a growing kaimahi workforce delivering Incredible Years® across New Zealand. IY Mentor Lisa Herewini has been instrumental in this development. In addition to one Marae-based Group Leader training, innovations to engage with and support kaimahi in their practice such as Kaimahi Telehui and Regional Hui, have been trialled. These events, co-facilitated by Lisa Herewini and Tania Anstiss and supported by Stacey Porter, have been highly-valued opportunities for kaimahi to share successes and challenges in a safe and supportive environment. Kaimahi report increased confidence in their ability to incorporate tikanga into their practice and have appreciated the recognition of how their specialised knowledge and skill enhances their delivery of the programme to whānau.
A suite of Incredible Years® resources has been developed for Māori and Pacific group leaders to enable both cultural and programme fidelity. MORE...

► Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Werry Workforce Whāraurau deliver Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) training for mental health professionals in agencies that are already supporting PCIT with other staff.
PCIT is an evidence-based, short-term, family behavioural therapy designed to support parents and their young children (2-7yrs) who have severe behavioural difficulties, or where there are extreme difficulties with parenting, e.g. history of physical abuse, neglect, etc.
PCIT is designed to improve parent-child relationships and to reduce difficult child behaviours (such as non-compliance, aggressiveness, tantrums, and oppositionality). PCIT is an active therapy, where parent and child are seen together in live play interactions. The parent is coached by the PCIT practitioner (using a transmitting device). PCIT is a mastery-based therapy where the child and parent must master certain skills before they can progress to the next phase of treatment.
