Manualised Intervention Christchurch 22 November

Presented by:

The University of Queensland, Phoenix Australia - Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health,
Werry Workforce Whāraurau and Canterbury District Health Board

The Intervention

This ½ day training builds on the 2-day modular Trauma Focused CBT training developed by Phoenix Australia. Participants will be trained in a manualised TF-CBT intervention that consists of 2 parent/caregiver sessions and up to 8 child/adolescent sessions.

This intervention has been used in Australia with disaster-affected children and adolescents; with great success.

The training will be accompanied by weekly supervision and is for experienced mental health professionals working with children and adolescents impacted by the Mosque shootings, who have developed wellbeing concerns.

Participants will receive a Therapist Manual for the parent/caregiver programme and the child/adolescent programme. The training will be a mixture of didactic presentation and role play.

Facilitator

Associate Professor Vanessa Cobham, The University of Queensland. Dr. Cobham will also be providing the supervision, using a video-conferencing platform such as Zoom.

This intervention was developed by Associate Professor Vanessa Cobham (University of Queensland) and Professor Brett McDermott (James Cook University, QLD).

There is no cost to participate in this training.
