Presenter : Willow Duffy, Safeguarding Children -

Willow is a founding member and CEO of Safeguarding Children. She has a strong background in the health sector, working as a nurse and midwife for over 30 years. She has a postgraduate qualification as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Practitioner (Health Visitor) from the UK. Willow worked a child protection caseload and went on to train as a child protection supervisor for nurses. In 2009 she moved to New Zealand with her family and initially worked as a Plunket Nurse, and later with youth as a Sexual Health and Family Planning Nurse. She was part of a  specialist team working as a Forensic Nurse for sexual assaults (SAATS Nurse). Willow has worked as an advisor for Children’s Action Plan, and Oranga Tamariki. In 2017 she completed the APAC course run by Dr Patrick Kelly and the team at  Puawaitahi, Starship Hospital. Her passion lies in the prevention of child abuse, and early intervention, to ensure the best outcomes for our tamariki, rangatahi and whanau.
