The Werry Workforce Whāraurau team is a business unit of UniServices within the University of Auckland. We have offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. This role would be based in Auckland. The team deliver workforce and service development programmes and projects under contract to Health Workforce New Zealand, Ministry of Health and other Government departments.

The Werry Workforce Whāraurau team provide advice and support into the development of key resources, documents and national working groups.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Pacific Advisor to join our team on a permanent basis.

This role will be key in ensuring that the particular needs of Pacific workers and Pacific children, adolescents and families experiencing mental health difficulties are acknowledged and taken into account in all workforce development initiatives undertaken by Werry Workforce Whāraurau. Specifically, this role will promote the mental health interests of Pacific consumers and workers and provide advice and recommendations regarding the needs of Pasifika consumers and mental health workers to the Werry Workforce Whāraurau senior leadership team.

We are looking for individuals with a tertiary qualification in a relevant field (ideally within mental health) and experience and knowledge of child and adolescent mental health. Additionally, we are seeking individuals with:

  • Fluency in a Pacific language preferable, and demonstrated knowledge of Pacific culture and traditions
  • Experience in sector needs and issues within the workforce development context
  • Previous experience in workforce development projects
  • Demonstrated relationship, networking and engagement skills particularly within the Pacific networks and cross-culturally
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
