About the Southern DHB

Southern District Health Board (Southern DHB) exists to support everyone across our district to live well, and access the right care when they need it, by delivering high quality, patient-centred and equitable health services to our diverse communities.

We are responsible for planning, funding and providing health and disability services to a population of over 315,000 located South of the Waitaki River. Our catchment area encompasses Invercargill City, Queenstown - Lakes District, Gore, rural Southland, Clutha, Central Otago, Maniototo, Waitaki District and Dunedin City. This means Southern DHB serves the largest geographic region of all New Zealand's health boards.

About the Role

We’re looking for a suitably qualified experienced Registered Nurse to fill this key role of Intake Worker that serves an important function as the first point of contact with the CAFS team. This role primarily involves receiving new referrals, clarifying these and gathering further information when required, then conducting the intake assessment sessions with consumers and family/whanau. Depending on the requirements of the department you may also be required to carry a small caseload as and when required.

Joining our multi-disciplinary team you’ll bring your broad based generic caseload and mental health experience with excellent assessment and intervention skills, along with an ability to work under pressure as a team player committed to excellence in service delivery.

Above everything else, bring your passion and your unwavering belief in people’s recovery.  Your career can only benefit from joining us.

The Location

At the very top of the list of reasons to join us at Southern DHB, is the LIFESTYLE that the Southern region offers. It’s all here - the opportunity to create a fantastic work/life balance is available, right now. The affordable cost of living in Southland means you’re able to enjoy excellent amenities, top schooling, affordable housing along with the most beautiful landscapes in NZ. Even more, you’ll be rewarded with ongoing training and education allowances to progress your career while having the added bonus of our corporate benefits programme, offering discounted health insurance and gym memberships just to name a few.

You must be a Registered Nurse, with a current APC – and have experience in working within a mental health sector with children, adolescents and their families.
