  • Four full time (0.94 FTE) permanent positions available, enquiries welcome for those looking for part time.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope of practice.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a cohesive Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Our Purpose: Why we do it

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you’re part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

Tupuna is a 15 bed extended treatment unit. Admissions to Tupuna are via the four Acute Inpatient units at Hillmorton Hospital.  We care for consumers with complex mental and physical health needs and provide multidisciplinary team assessment and treatment for adults (18 years and over).  Our aim is to work in collaboration and partnership with consumers and family/whanau, to develop therapeutic, supportive and empowering relationships with consumers, to enable them to leave hospital and live successfully in the community.

The Role: Where you fit in

This position would suit a motivated Registered Nurse (with a sense of humour) who has, or who would like to develop their psychiatric and medical skills, within a supportive team environment.  Good  communication, interpersonal and documentation skills, along with a compassionate nature will see you excel in this area. The positions are based on a roster thus flexibility across all shifts is imperative. A comprehensive staff orientation package is provided. Previous Mental health experience is essential.  If you have a current NZ Registered Nursing Practising Certificate that includes a scope of practice for Mental Health then this could be the new career challenge for you.

Our Culture: What matters to us

Ko ngā tāngata, te mātua mahi

Putting people at the heart of all we do

Health is ultimately all about people. What’s important around here is the way we care for and respect others, the responsibility taken for delivering outcomes, and going about our work with integrity.
